GENERAL

What is WebAdvisor?

WebAdvisor is a Web interface that allows you to access information contained in the MUSC administrative database. Students can check their class schedule, grades, view holds, pay their bill, check financial aid status, etc.  Faculty can view their class rosters, enter major exam and final grades, etc.

I'm a new student. When will I be able to access WebAdvisor?

About a month before the semester begins, new students are given access to WebAdvisor. There are several steps to the process, the first of which is the creation by the university of your NetID. This account serves as the username for WebAdvisor. Your NetID and password will be mailed to you separately. You must go to Identity Manager to activate your NetID before you can use it.

If you accept admission less than one month before the semester begins, your NetID will be created after your matriculation fee has been received and you have been registered for classes. Go to the fourth floor of the library (off-campus students may call 843-792-2811) to get your login information.

Which browsers can I use with WebAdvisor?

WebAdvisor requires a browser that supports the HTML 4.0 standard.  It works best with Internet Explorer, version 6 or higher. The browser must also have Javascript enabled and be set to accept cookies.

What is my User Name and Password?

Your NetID is used to access WebAdvisor.
New students receive NetID information via
U.S. mail approximately one month before the semester begins.
Students and instructors at MUSC before
Nov. 6, 2006: your NetID is your old MNA.

What if I forget my password?

If you have previously gone to Identity Manager and answered the authentication questions, go back to Identity Manager, enter your user ID and click "Forgot Your Password?"

Otherwise, go to the fourth floor of the library with a picture ID to have it re-set. Once it's been re-set, go to Identity Manager and answer the authentication questions.  After doing that, you will be able to re-set your password yourself if you forget it again.

Does WebAdvisor use "cookies"?

Yes. WebAdvisor puts a session cookie on your desktop when you log into the system. When you close your browser, the cookie is erased. It assists in navigation through WebAdvisor. Cookies must be enabled in your browser.

Invalid Password

Your password was entered incorrectly. The password is case-sensitive, so make sure that CAPS LOCK is not on. Also, if entering numbers on the numeric keypad, make sure that NUM LOCK is on. If you still have trouble, try using the numbers across the top of the keyboard instead of the keypad.

Account Locked because of excessive login attempts

Your WebAdvisor account will be locked if you enter the incorrect password several times while trying to Login. It will take 10 minutes for the account to automatically reset from the last failed attempt. If you retry before the timer expires it will reset the timer and you will have to wait another 10 minutes. Please wait for this time to expire and then try again

WebAdvisor WebPayment is not working

Debit cards usually have limits of $500. If you try to pay your whole tuition, you will get a "Declined - authorization failure" message. Contact your bank to have the limit lifted.

Also, make sure:

  • Correct credit card type is selected
  • Credit card number has no spaces
  • Correct expiration date is entered
  • The “name on the credit card” field is correct; it defaults in your name; if you are using someone else’s card, you will have to change this to match the name on the card.
